Fuelling Your Game: How Nutrition Impacts Performance on the Golf Course.

You've started training for golf.

Awesome! You are swinging well but always feel like there is a little something else to give. You can't keep going for the full 18 holes.

What else could you add to help your performance on the golf course and finish the 18th strong?


You guessed it.

Nutrition.


Nutrition is a huge subject. Too huge for me to go on and on about. I'm going to keep this as simple as I can.

I want you to focus on Protein. It is that simple.


How much Protein do I need and how does it help my performance on the golf course?


The basic recommendation for protein intake is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body mass in untrained, generally healthy adults. For instance, a 68kg golfer would consume around 54 grams a day.


However, this amount is only to prevent protein deficiency. It’s not necessarily optimal, particularly for people such as golfers who train regularly.


For people training, protein needs might go up to about 1.4-2.0 g/kg of body mass. Our hypothetical 68 kg golfer would now need about 95-135 g of protein per day.


These suggested protein intakes are what’s necessary for basic protein synthesis.

Whoops, I went too complex. 🤦‍♂️

Simply, eating more protein will help the creation of new proteins and form individual building blocks in our body.


How does this look for me?


You know your weight, you now know how much protein we need.
