Do you really need to train in a gym to improve your golf handicap?

Every golfer wants to play better golf.

Including me whose last round was uncomfortably close to 100. 🤦‍♂️

As casual golfers, we use golf for fun and de-stress. However, there is always our golf handicap lurking in the back of our heads.

How do we lower our handicap?

The most common way is to get lessons from a Pro and practice more. Sounds logical right?

Solely relying on this approach can easily lead to injuries and never reaching your true potential.

Yeah, doesn't sound too good to me.

We are all dreaming of getting the Augusta call up after all... 😅

What should we be focusing on?

Bear with me a second. There is some maths/science coming.

Amateur golfers achieve close to 90% of their peak muscle activity when driving the golf ball. This is the same as lifting a weight four times before total fatigue. As amateur golfers we swing on average 30-40 times a round with this intensity.

Our bodies can't handle it and that's why we get injured.

We need to focus more on the need to improve our physical conditioning to help improve our golf.

Now hold on a second...I'm not saying go to the gym and deadlift a weight four times and buckle.

We can be sensible about it and do it in stages.

  1. Mobile

  2. Strong

  3. Fast

  4. Score

Now you know the importance of training for golf.

Are you ready to lower your handicap?

Train for golf with me.

Here's a little sneak peek of a movement that can help you lower your golf handicap. 👇
